Driving Awareness and Participation for #WeCreate408
“Everyone’s an Artist in April Thanks to South Bay’s We Create 408” - Janea Melido, KQED
“Getting Creative: April is the month that San Jose’s Office of Cultural Affairs invites residents to show their creativity through the WeCreate408 campaign.” - Sal Pizarro, Mercury News
This year, our team is leading advertising and public relations efforts for #WeCreate408, helping expand awareness and participation across the region through strategic media outreach and targeted digital promotion.
A major change to the campaign format in 2026 shifted the challenge from daily prompts to one creative prompt per week throughout April. The updated structure encouraged more sustainable participation while giving creators additional time to engage thoughtfully with each challenge.
To support the campaign, we secured media placements with outlets including KQED and The Mercury News, along with additional regional coverage that helped broaden visibility for the initiative.
Despite working with a smaller budget than previous years, the campaign has delivered strong results so far. Through strategic audience targeting, media amplification, and efficient ad spending, we have helped drive more than 1,200 new participants to the challenge to date while maximizing every dollar of the campaign budget.*
*Final metrics will be available upon conclusion of the campaign on May 30, 2026.
